Enrichment: Clearbit and Apollo

Fill in your business profile automatically from public company data with a Clearbit or Apollo.io API key.

Enrichment: Clearbit and Apollo

Enrichment providers fill in your business profile for you. Instead of typing in your industry, company size, team roster, and competitors by hand, Perceive8 looks up your company's public firmographic data — using your website domain — and suggests the answers. The richer your business profile, the better Aria, scenarios, and agents understand your business.

Both providers work the same way in Perceive8; connect either one, or both for the best coverage.

What you need

  • An API key from Clearbit or Apollo.io — both offer self-serve API keys from their dashboards.
  • Owner or admin access in your Perceive8 workspace.

Connect

  1. Go to Audio → Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find the Clearbit or Apollo.io card and click Connect.
  3. Paste the API key and click Save.

The key is verified against the provider's API before it's stored, so a typo or an expired key is rejected immediately with an error — you'll never end up with a silently broken connection.

What it's used for

When your business profile is set up or updated (including during automatic account setup), Perceive8 queries the connected provider with your company domain and turns the result into suggestions:

  • Profile details — company name, industry, size, and similar firmographic fields.
  • Team members — suggested employees to add to the profile.
  • Competitors — suggested similar companies (Clearbit only).

Everything arrives as a suggestion you review, not silent data entry — you confirm or edit each item before it becomes part of your profile.

Only public company-level data is queried. These integrations don't touch personal inboxes, private contacts, or anything behind a login.

Which one should you pick?

Clearbit Apollo.io
Company profile enrichment Yes Yes
Team/employee suggestions Yes Yes
Competitor suggestions Yes —

If you already pay for one of them, use that one. If you have both, connect both — Perceive8 tries each provider and merges what it finds.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect on the provider's card. The stored key is removed and no further enrichment lookups are made. Suggestions you already accepted into your business profile are unaffected.

Troubleshooting

  • "Invalid API key" when saving. Keys are verified live against the provider. Generate a fresh key in the provider's dashboard and paste the full string.
  • No suggestions appear. The provider may not have data for your domain (common for new or small companies). Fill in the profile manually — enrichment is a head start, not a requirement.
  • Suggestions look outdated. Provider data refreshes on their schedule, not ours. Edit the profile fields directly; your corrections always win over suggestions.
