Privacy & consent essentials
Perceive8 records and analyzes conversations — which means other people's voices and data. This page covers the essentials every workspace owner should know before the first recording. For depth, see the Security & Compliance docs.
Your consent duties
The Perceive8 Notetaker is always visible in meetings as a named participant — it never joins secretly. But visibility isn't consent:
- Notify participants that the meeting is being recorded and analyzed. Say it at the start, or put it in the invite.
- Know your jurisdiction. Many regions require all-party consent for recording. When in doubt, ask explicitly.
- For regulated use cases (health, minors, therapy), see the Consent model — some playbooks require documented per-subject consent before they can run.
Consent preferences
Under Audio → Privacy → Consent preferences, your workspace controls:
| Setting | What it governs |
|---|---|
| Audio processing | Core transcription (required for the product to work) |
| AI analysis | Summaries, scoring, and insights (required) |
| Voiceprint analysis | Speaker identification by voice |
| Third-party sharing | Sharing data with connected integrations |
| Marketing communications | Product emails from Perceive8 |
Per-subject consent (regulated playbooks)
If you use playbooks for sensitive contexts (behavioral therapy, elder care, childcare), the Audio → Consent page manages consent per subject: editable consent templates per playbook, subjects tracked by anonymous reference (e.g. PT-00142) with optional expiry, and one-click revocation. No consent on file, no processing.
Your data rights
From Audio → Privacy you can exercise GDPR/CCPA rights directly, without emailing support:
- Request Data Export — a full export of your data, delivered within 30 days
- Request Account Deletion — permanently deletes your account after a 14-day cooling-off period (cancellable during the window; requires typing a confirmation)
- Privacy Requests History — track the status of every request
